The Weerribben
Sailing route in the Netherlands
Between Steenwijk and Ossenzijl you sail in a channel by a muted landscape with beautiful views and different mooring places with bollards.
The channel invites to multiple stops for walking or cycling. On the north side is in the distance well the slope of the high grounds. In the ice age there were valley's and ridges; the ice that stretched from the Baltic Sea to far in our country, had huge stone masses. Even today one can find these stones here. Worth a visit is the natural: The weerribben. Here you will find a permanent exhibition on ' De weerribben '.
